@Work has an exciting opportunity for an eager, hard-working, forward thinking journalist, The successful candidate will take the reins of a leading trade magazine for delis and independent retailers.
Written in a more relaxed style than many trade magazines, editing this title will be challenging, exciting and a fantastic opportunity to hone all those journalistic skills. Best of all our client wants the editor to become 'the face of the magazine', attending regular press events and trade shows.
Foreign travel is also involved, with the opportunity to take advantage of some very exciting press trips abroad. In the past staff have visited Italy, France, Spain and Greece. Published nine times a year, with four annual supplements and only a small team of staff, this is a challenging and exciting role, with plenty of potential for future development.
The ideal candidate will:
- be well-organised and able to juggle multiple tasks
- be able to lead a team and come up with new ideas and strategies for development
- be able to prove impeccable writing and subbing skills, paying particular attention to spot on spelling and grammar and excellent sentence structure and turn of phrase.
- have experience of subbing, proofing and editing other people's work.
- be able to write punchy, informative and exciting editorial on a range of subjects, generated in the most part from telephone interviews.
- be a real people person who is happy to get out and about to meet clients and interview people face to face
- Have a clear understanding of B2B magazines
- Have some production experience
- Have an eye for design and a good understanding of what makes a good picture that can lift a page
- be full of ideas on how to take the magazine forward
- have a commercial understanding of the relationship between ads and edit and how to increase revenue
- Have a car or be willing to drive the company car
